Makin' copies

My friend Sue Ingram and I were having lunch with a few ladies between my classes last Saturday at Scrappin' In The Hills in Anaheim. The subject of time management came up. In our mutual paper crafting worlds we agreed that lots of our time is devoted to making class samples and preparing kits. We joked that we needed clones! Here are some samples I made today. In November and December I'll be giving card making classes all around Southern California using a quilted Japanese Washi Paper technique. I thought they looked cool (hot?) all together. Fan fold wallet

Here's a fun little project made from a single piece of 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock. It will hold 8 ATC cards or business cards.
Here's how to make it:
Using a paper cutter, cut a sheet of cardstock so that you end up with four pieces. The sizes of the pieces are 4 1/2" x 11", 3" x 10 1/2" and two pieces measuring 11" x 1/2".Crease the 4 1'2" x 11" piece lengthwise at 1" and fold it down. Do the same to the 3" x 10 1/2" piece. (see picture)
Fold each piece in half with the 1" fold on the outside.
Now fan fold each of the pieces so that the 1" fold is on the inside. You will have two pieces folded like the letter M with slots for cards at the bottom of each. (see picture)
Cover the non-slotted sides of the smaller fan with glue and press the center two sections together.
Slide the whole piece into the center of the larger piece as shown in the picture.
Press the two wallet pieces together firmly so the glue will adhere.
Glue one of the 11" x 1/2" strips atop the wallet slot as shown. Wrap the strip around to the other side until it reaches the center of the wallet (you may have to trim a little of the strip away). Do the same on the other side of the wallet with the remaining strip.
Press the wallet closed to adhere the glue.
Decorate the front any way you wish. Have fun!

Wishing you the best of every season

I'm excited to be doing a second "Four Seasons" workshop tomorrow at The Stamp Addict in San Diego. It's fun for me to figure out different ways to use the new stamps. We'll be making five all new cards including this one.

TVWeekly reunion

Some of the TV Weekly gang got together last night for a little mini reunion. We missed our buddy Tricia Morris (working hard at ClubScrap in Wisconsin) but all the California group was there. We had our genius director, Mickey Corcoran and his family, Executive producer Cherryl Green seen here with Jami Petersen, Tamara Berg with her husband John, Judi from Judikins and her hubby Rob and Carla & me. Our friends from The Netherlands Martin & Martine joined it the fun. We got to catch up and find out what everybody has been up to. No slackers here! Everybody is super busy with their creative endeavors. We will do this again soon!

Harvest Time Card

Here's a fall theme card using one of my new Cloisonne Cameo stamps. Here's how to make it.
Materials:
MSRS Cloisonne Cameo stamp (Autumn)
Cardstock (copper, cream and tan)
Copper embossing powder
Pigment inkpad (Versamark or similar)
Heat tool
Paper cutter
Craft knife
Ruler
Yarn
scissors (or oval punch measuring 2" x 1 1/4")
Regular tape
Double-sided tape
Dimensional foam tape or pop dots

Steps:

Using the paper cutter, cut a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece from the cream colored cardstock. Fold it in half to make the card.
Line the inside back of the card with a piece of tan cardstock, slightly smaller than the dimensions of the card.
From the copper cardstock, cut two pieces measuring 2" x 5 1/2"
From the cream colored cardstock cut a piece measuring 2 1'2? x 1 3/4"
From the tan cardstock cut a piece measuring 1 1/2" x 2 1/4"
Stamp and emboss the Autumn leaf stamp twice on one of the copper pieces. Cut or punch out one of the ovals and cut just the leaf from the other one. (see the picture)
Layer the small tan frame piece onto the cream colored frame piece and mount the embossed Cameo on top with dimensional tape. Set aside.
Using a craft knife and a ruler, cut two tabs into the 2" x 5 1/2" piece of copper cardstock (see pictures)
Fold each tab in half and tape them as shown on the reverse side. This will give you two small loops to thread yarn through to make the embellishment for the card.
Wrap the end of the yarn with a little tape(like the end of a shoe lace)to help the threading process.
Thread the yarn through one loop and pull it through almost to the end. Tape this end of the yarn to the back of the copper cardstock feeding it through the opening below the loop to secure it.
Continue threading the yarn through the loops from top to bottom until all the yarn is looped.
Tape the leading end of the yarn to the back of the piece like you did with the other end.
Patch the holes using some scrap copper and tape.
Attach the piece to the card as shown. Using another small piece of yarn, tie the bundle in the middle.
Add the cut out leaf to the knot using a little foam tape. Add the framed Cameo with some foam tape to finish the card.
