Hexagon Jewel Box

Here's a fun way to use my new Cloisonne Hexagon Stamp. The colors were inspired by seeing the movie The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel which is set in India

Materials & Supplies:

Cardstock (your choice of color(s)
MSRS Cloisonné Hexagon
Gold embossing powder
Versamark inkpad
Dye inkpads (your choice of color(s)
Viva-Décor Pearl Pen (Gold)
Scissors
Small hole punch or piercing tool
Liquid glue
Heat tool
Brad

Steps:

Ink the colored cardstock directly from the pad onto to paper with a swirling pattern.  This gives the paper more character and contrast. (My color choice was influenced by seeing a movie yesterday set in India). Use the heat tool to dry the ink on the surface of the cardstock before stamping.

Stamp the Cloisonné Hexagon stamp onto the cardstock and emboss with gold embossing powder. You will need to stamp three Hexagons. One will become the lid and one will be the box.  The third one is for making the star decoration on the lid. If you have room on the cardstock, stamp extra Hexagons for cards.

Cut out two Hexagons and one star as shown. Use your scissors to cut six slits through the gutters between each section to the points of the inner Hexagon. Do this to both the top and bottom piece.

Crease and fold as shown to make the six-sided lid and the six-sided box.

NOTE: The location of the folds is important to make the lid fit on top of the box. Crease as show in the pictures with the black lines.  For the Lid (yellow Hexagon) crease on the bottom of each section. For the bottom box (Magenta Hexagon) crease on the inner Hexagon as shown.

To glue the sections together, put a small amount of liquid glue on the triangles (with the three hearts) and lay the adjacent section on top and hold until glued tight. Do this to all twelve triangles and their adjacent panels. Use scissors to trim away any small pieces as shown.

Pierce the center of the lid and the center of the star. Add a brad to the star and attach it to the lid allowing the star to rotate.

Decorate the outsides of the box with the gold Pearl Pen or other embellishments.

Enjoy!
