Lily's Turquoise Nuggets

I got this idea after my Grand Daughter Lily and I were coloring yesterday. We had to sharpen some of the crayons and she wanted to see inside the flap where the sharpener is. We found a bunch of colorful wax shavings which stuck together while we were cleaning them out of the box. I started to shape them into little nuggets. They looked like turquoise stones. I made a bunch of them and coated them with Transparent Gloss Gel from Viva Decor. Remember, if you make some, squeeze the wax as hard as you can between your fingers to compact them. I think they look cool and they are very sturdy. Now, what can I do with them?

Neat little nuggets, I'll bet Lily has an idea of how to use them. Can't wait to see them used.

You could attach them and dangle them from a bookmark or make a necklace with them.

Pretty cool!

Very creative. Are they strong enough that you could make a hole through them? Then there is all kinds of things you could do- jewelry, string on a card, etc. You could also use them as 'rocks' in a glass vase with paper flowers. I'm sure you'll think of something amazing!

They look great. Beads?

Does she have a dolls house? They look like they'd make a cute little fairy garden/rockery around a 'pool' - of course, they may be far too small, it's hard to judge ;)

Maybe just make it an annual thing (or every few months) to take the shavings and do this, see how the colours change as her favourites change too and collect them all in a pretty container?

Use them to teach her to count! I love them- gorgeous! And, I like the idea of trying to make beads with them....or, before you make them into balls, heat them for some fun waxy color with the new turtles......

Pretty nuggets! Would be great for shaker cards, or to enhance any project with a Southwestern theme! Blessings, Lori

Mike, your "turquoise" crayon gems are beautiful! I would find a clear acrylic jar and layer them in there...adding more colors as you have more shavings! However, with the shavings, I always loved putting the shaving between 2 pieces of waxed paper and ironing them to make a pretty design! The waxed paper can be pre-cut into various shapes. How fun to be able to do art with your Grand Daughter Lily!!!
hugs,
Laura
