My friend Barbara Ashcroft gave me a beautiful bookmark inside a folded paper kimono. It's a great gift for your book loving friends. Here's my version for you.
Materials:
8 1/2" x 11" scrapbooking paper (a pattern on both sides works best)
Hole punch
Corner rounder punch or scissors
Ribbon
Glue or double-sided tape
Paper cutter
Ruler or scoring tool
Steps:
From the 8 1/2" x 11" paper, cut four pieces, the kimono, the sleeve, the belt and the bookmark.
The kimono measures 5 1/2" x 7". The sleeve measures 4 3/4" x 2 1/2". The belt measures 5 1/2" x 1 1/2". The bookmark measures 5 1/2" x 2 1/4".
Make a score line at 2 1/4" from the left side of the kimono and fold it down. Do the same from the right side. Fold back a triangular section from each of the outside sections to make the collar as shown. Use a corner rounder or scissors to round the bottom of the sleeve. Attach the sleeve to the back of the kimono with tape or glue as shown. Punch a hole at the top of the bookmark. Tie a ribbon through the hole. Lay the bookmark inside the kimono and fold the kimono around it. Wrap the belt around the kimono and tape or glue it closed. Make sure the belt can slide up and down.Enjoy!
