I had a call from my friend Judi Kauffman this morning telling me about the fall 2009issue of Paper Creations. Judi has a big article featuring my new mini stamps. She made a big bunch of the prettiest tags you ever saw! Please take a look here: http://www.papercreationsmag.com/

Swinging Stars

Here's a card using my mini triangle stamp. Triangles are fun to play with. You can combine them into lots of different shapes. These are equilateral triangles. If they were isosceles triangles, combining them the same way as I did on the card would result in a different shape. I combined these into two star shapes and linked them together. You can see from the picture one is stationary and one is loose. Here's how to make it:

Materials:
MSRS mini triangle
Silver cardstock
Black cardstock
Silver embossing powder
Pigment inkpad
craft knife
cutting mat
gluestick
tape

Steps:
Stamp and emboss 12 triangles onto silver cardstock. Cut the triangles out. Glue one triangle on to the black cardstock like a pyramid. Glue the next triangle, point down, half way down the left side of the "pyramid". Glue the next four triangle in place in the same manner until you have a complete star with a hexagonal center. Using a craft knife, carefully cut the star out including the hexagonal center. Repeat these steps to make a second star. Cut through the second star between two triangles and link it to the first star. Use a little piece of tape to close the opening you cut. Mount one star onto whatever cardstock you like and allow the lower star to swing. Enjoy!

An Exaltation of Butterflies

Here's a card using my new mini butterfly stamp.

Supplies:
One sheet of 8 1/2" x 11" white cardstock
Pigment inkpad
White embossing powder
Dye inkpad (your choice of color)
Stipple brush
Paper cutter
craft knife
cutting mat
scissors
ruler
bone folder

gluestick (or tape runner)
MSRS Cloisonne Butterfly
MSRS Mosaic Frame
MSRS Mini Butterfly

Steps:
Using a paper cutter, cut the sheet of cardstock in half to yield two 4 1/4" x 11" pieces.
Cut one piece into two parts measuring 6" x 4 1/4" and 5" x 4 1/4"
Using a ruler and a bone folder, score and fold a 1/2" flap on the top of the 6" piece. Set these parts aside.
Fold the other 11" x 4 1'4" piece in half to 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".
Lay the folded card down with the opening at the top. Score and fold down the front of the card at 2 3/4".
Open the card and lay it flat to emboss. Stamp and emboss the Mosaic Frame onto the 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" section of the card.
Stamp and emboss the Butterfly on the other half which has been divided into two 4 1/4" x 2 3/4" sections.
Make sure to stamp the butterfly on the fold with the top of the wings above the fold and the bottom of the wings below the fold. Add a few more butterflies as shown.
Using a craft knife and a cutting mat, cut out the top parts of the wings just to the fold.
Stamp and emboss as many mini butterflies as you like onto the reserved 5" x 4 1/4" piece. Using a stipple brush and dye inkpad, color the mosaic frame "background" and all the butterflies.
Attach the piece with the 1/2" flap to the back of the card to make it stand up as shown.
Cut out and attach the mini butterflies all over the card.
Cut thin pieces of paper to make the antenna for the cutout butterfly and glue or tape in place.

Wanderlust

I had three parties(I mean workshops)at Stamping Details yesterday. We always have such a good time! We made cards using the beautiful Transatlantique Collection of papers from Graphic45. Nicki from Hamburg Germany got the prize for traveling the greatest distance. That's Nicki on the right with her friend Mary Ann and me at the store. Got me thinking about going to Stempel Mekka in Germany later this year. I really do have wanderlust!
